There are a number of Visitor Centers throughout Del Norte County offering a variety of services. Many have gift shops, special exhibits, videos, picnic areas and public restrooms. Please check this list as some of our centers have seasonal hours of operation. Have fun!

Exhibits: Coast redwood and wildlife exhibits inside. ‘Trees of the coast redwood forest’ walk with waysides outside.

Facilities: Gift shop, picnic area, and restrooms.

Open from May 20 to September 30 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Closure: Winter

Exhibits: Coast redwood, history, and wildlife

Facilities: Nature museum, gift shop, campground, dump station, picnic area, and restrooms.
Prairie Creek Visitor Center

Open All Year
Open from March 1 to October 31 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Open from November 1 to February 28 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Exhibits: Smoky the Bear, Wildlife, history, fishing, and model of fire lookout

Facilities: Sells gifts and books of nature and history, restrooms, picnic area, selection of videos of the area, info about local flora and flauna. Lookout rental (Bear Basin Butte Lookout)
