Horseback Riding at Tolowa Dunes

The breathtaking Tolowa Dunes State Park encompasses Lake Earl and Lake Tolowa, a large lagoon separated from the Pacific Ocean by a narrow spit of land. The beautiful park is a haven for many species of birds and animals, making it popular for kayakers and hikers hoping to catch a glimpse of a native bird or goose. A ride-in horse camp provides basic amenities.

Trailhead: From Crescent City, take Northcrest drive north off of Highway 101. The park is accessible via Old Mill Rd off of Northcrest Dr. For a second access point drive further along Northcrest Drive, which becomes Lake Earl Dr. and turn left on Lower Lake Rd. to Kellogg Rd. or Pala Rd.
